I mentioned this at the end of my post about Niemi and Price.
"We seem to be missing the signings of a couple of Avs forwards named Stewart and Muller..someone want to tell me when that happens?"
I have been answered by the one and only, Mr. Adrian Dater.
Solid signing by the club. During a summer where they went after exactly ZERO free agents because they're either:
A) sticking to The Plan of Rebuilding
B) to cheap and owner E. Stanley Kroenke is more concerned about his ownership stake in the St. Louis Rams. than icing a competitive hockey team.
I don't think there is a right answer, (it's A and B) but with transfer of ownership to Josh Kroenke last week, this could be pure coincidence that the magical bag of money has all of the sudden dropped from the sky.
Stewart led the team in goals with 28 and put up 64 points in 77 games in what was certainly a banner year for the 23 year old. (being on a Hockey News cover doesn't hurt either) Pressure is on him again this year to put up those numbers, if not exceed them, and be one of the premier power forwards in the Western Conference. (I can say that now because Byfuglien has moved to the east)
Where he will play is anyone guess, as he proved to be a capable winger to both Matt Duchene and Paul Stastny. The Avs certainly need grit, as we saw them get tossed around pretty good by San Jose in the first round of last years playoffs, and Stewart has that in spades.
Now how about that Mueller kid?
