Khabijailin, Gagner racking in the dough, and Souray for Hartnell?

Khabijailin

Let’s start with the Oilers so called number one goalie. On Tuesday August 31 2010, Khabibulin was sentenced to jail for 30 days, the minimal that he would receive for his charges of drinking and driving. I personally do not like this, solely for the fact I believe that drinking and driving deserves a much punishment then it is now, but that is my opinion. Watching Tambellini commenting on the ruling made me wonder if he ever regrets signing the former Stanley cup winner. He believes Bulin will be at training camp and take over the starting job as the Oilers go to guy in goal. However, by the tone in his voice, he seem not pleased that Bulin and his lawyer decided to appeal. How are you gonna win this case? Say that you weren’t drunk and you were driving at the maximum limit? Smart move. With that being said, the appeal has dragged on the Bulin’s case even longer, leaving the inevitable of……the three headed goalie monster! Sound familiar? There were rumours of Oilers attempting to go after Antti Niemi but that likely won’t happen now with Khabibulin attending training camp. Who knows, I could be wrong but this is just my two cents. Have fun in jail mate.

Oilers.nhl.com for the Tambi’s reaction

Gagner’s benjamins

TSN and pretty much everybody else states Restricted Free Agent Gagner signs a two year deal worth $4.55 million dollars with a cap hit of $2.275. That’s quite the price tag for a guy who only put up 40 points last season, but the two year term is just right. He’s got that time to prove to management that he is worth the big bucks or just some filler on the team. I most certainly hope he succeeds and recapture his magic touch in his rookie season. Gagner is definitely one of the main parts of this rebuild and seeing him on a line with Hall and Eberle/Parjarrvi makes me drool. Definitely a bright future for the Oilers.

Souray for Hartnell

According to The Hockey News that I was reading on my blackberry, Souray was close to being traded for Scott Hartnell but Tambi pulled out of the deal. This is a strange one, as Hartnell, a younger guy who is capable of putting up 30 goals (he scored 30 in 2008-2009 season) and 20 goals consistently would most certainly benefit the Oilers. However he does have a NTC but some speculate he waived it while other say he didn’t. One things for sure I would love to have him on the team (except he needs to cut his damn hair) and getting rid of Souray makes the deal all the better.
